Mia taught us how to make a box out of paper. She gave clear instructions and made sure we all understood each step.
Welcome to Room 14's blog for 2016. We are a class of energetic year 3/4 learners and our teacher is Mrs Fowler

Weeding & Weird Worms
Today Room 14 had an Enviro Day with Mrs Daniel. We read about worms, dug up worms, watched worms and even found a new type of worm none of us had seen before.
Also, before morning tea we explored the native bush walk. We identified the native trees, but also discovered some pest plants too.
After our break it was time to analyse our lunchboxes; We asked ourselves, "After I've eaten everything what will be left for the worm bin, compost, recycling or landfill?" The Enviro Stars had nothing at all for the landfill. Well done them.
In the afternoon we listened to "Diary of a Worm" and weeded the edible gardens. We also fed the soil with worm tea from the worm farm.
Here's what we thought about our day:
"I learnt gardening is fun." Chanel
"Worms have an important job." Isabelle
"We're learning to take care of the environment." Vera
"We've been pulling out weeds, cause they're not supposed to be there; they'll take space and nutrients from our veges." Mia
"I liked weeding. I learnt white flatworms eat earthworms." Ben
"Touching things is fun no matter what it is ... not poo!" Tom

Sugar in Food
Mrs Robb came to talk to us about being Label Detectives.
Mia learnt that Cocoa Pops has more than 15g (which is our recommended amount).
Neerav found that cartoon characters on boxes of cereal means they will have more sugar in it.
Tanya found out that Powerade has the same amount of sugar as 12 chocolate chip cookies.
